Access Statement

The Winyard's Gap Inn is an historic and cultural building; a public house has stood on this site for 300 years. The Inn has a bar, dining room, patio, extensive beer garden and six ensuite bedrooms, which are set back from the main pub building. We want all of our guests to feel welcome and enjoy their visit to the Inn. Where possible, we have made allowances to accommodate all guests. However, due to the historic nature of the building, there are limitations on what we are able to offer. The below statement has been written to offer our prospective guests reassurance and information ahead of their visit.

Pre-Arrival

  • If you have any special access requests, please let us know when booking so that we can discuss any preparations or accommodations in advance.

  • We do our best to cater for all dietary requirements and our main menu features gluten free, vegan and vegetarian options. Please make us aware of any specific dietary requirements when booking so that we can advise accordingly. Where possible, our chefs can adapt certain menu items to cater to specific requirements.

Arrival and Parking

  • The Inn is easily accessible by car from the A356. Local taxis are available but do require advanced booking. Please ask for taxi contact details at the time of your booking if required.

  • There is a large car park which lies adjacent to the main building and is completely tarmacked.

  • There are no designated disabled spaces but, with prior notice, we will do our best to allocate a space for you near to the dining room entrance, for easier access to the Inn.

  • If you require assistance, please ask one of our team. We are more than happy to help with carrying luggage or supporting lifting pushchairs.

Entrance

  • The main entrance to the Inn is located at the front of the building. There is a secondary entrance, with double doors, which is located behind the patio and enters into the dining room. These doors are kept shut most of the time, but can be opened by a member of the team if required.

  • There are steps leading up to both entrances. Handrails are located on each side of the steps. The team are on hand to provide assistance if required.

Inside the Winyard's Gap Inn

  • The bar and toilets are located on one level.

  • The dining room is located at the back of the pub, down a flight of four stairs. Handrails are located on either side of the stairs.

  • Both the dining room and bar have solid wooden flooring throughout.

  • Both toilets do not have very wide access doors and may be unsuitable for disabled persons. There is a small step down into the ladies loos, which is clearly marked.

  • There are baby changing facilities available in the ladies toilet.

  • Background music is played throughout the bar and dining room. The volume can be adjusted.

Bedrooms

  • There are six ensuite bedrooms, all of which are located in separate buildings behind the pub.

  • All rooms are accessed via a flight of external steps. Handrails and anti-slip decking strips are installed.

  • The majority of bedrooms do not contain any internal steps, with the exception of Room 5 which is located on the second floor.

  • Pets are welcome to stay in all rooms, with the exception of Room 5. A small additional charge will be applied when staying with a pet. There is a maximum of two pets allowed in any room.

We regret that full wheelchair access is not currently available through the entire Inn. We are currently reviewing options to make the Inn more disabled friendly. The team is here to help in any way they can and we ask that guests reach out to us in advance so that we can make the necessary preparations where possible.

If you would like to discuss the above statement or have any questions or feedback, please reach out to us via phone or email.
